Fuel & Iron will keep a vase at the bar to collect the wooden nickels. There are three ways that the wooden nickels can be placed into the vase as a donation to the nonprofit:
1) Direct Fundraising:
Each nonprofit organization will receive 60 wooden nickels, to distribute to their constituents as they see fit. Each wooden nickel represents a $5 donation to the nonprofit. To claim the donation, the holder of the wooden nickel needs to purchase a main course from a restaurant or a drink (beer, wine, shot, mocktail or cocktail) from the bar, and give the nickel to the bartender.
2) Industry Night:
When a member of the hospitality industry purchases a drink, they will get a wooden nickel with an “industry night” sticker on the back. Instead of redeeming the nickel for a free drink, they can choose to donate it to the nonprofit
3) Guest Donations
Any guest can donate $5 for the nonprofit, and we will put a wooden nickel in the vase.
At the end of each month, we’ll count the wooden nickels in the vase and write a check to the nonprofit, $5 per wooden nickel.
